IVF From Abroad

Patients are advised to consult a local gynaecologist approximately 2-3 weeks prior to arriving in Malaysia to monitor their reproductive cycle.

During initial consultation, ultrasound scan and preliminary investigations (such as blood test and semen analysis) will be conducted.

If the results are satisfactory, patients will start on ovarian stimulation (hormone injections to stimulate follicle growth).

Ultrasound scan will be performed to monitor the development of follicles. Dose of hormone injections might be adjusted for optimum egg development.

Ultrasound scan will be performed to monitor the development of follicles. If the growth is satisfactory, egg collection day will be planned. The final injection will be done to trigger the eggs to complete the maturation process.

Egg collection day:
Egg retrieval is performed in the Operating Theatre. On the same morning, your partner will provide a semen sample (after 1-2 days of abstinence). The collected eggs and sperm are then sent to the lab for fertilisation.

For patients planning a Fresh Embryo Transfer:

• The transfer is carried out 3 to 5 days after egg retrieval.
• 1 or 2 embryos will be transferred into the uterus.
• A pregnancy test is performed after 2 weeks, either in patient’s home country or in Malaysia.

For patients planning a Frozen Embryo Transfer:

• Viable embryos will be frozen for future use.
• Frozen embryo transfer can typically be scheduled after at least two menstrual cycles (approximately 4–8 weeks after egg retrieval), or when the patient is ready.
